Vintage NYC Horses in Snow

Vintage NYC Horses in Snow

Posted by Aaron Taylor on

A recent piece in the NYT by Eric Moskowitz explored the visual history of blizzards in our beloved city. Suffice to say that in years past snow did not make things easy for the horses living and working in New York (ditto for the people). The above photo from 1859 captures a more lighthearted moment as some bundled-up folks take their fresh-looking horses out for a jaunt in a nascent Central Park. Who knows what weather will come before winter is done with us this year, but one thing is for sure, Central Park looks beautiful in all seasons! See what Central Park Conservancy says to see and do when you visit.
