About Us
Our Mission
In a metropolis of millions, Manhattan Saddlery is truly one of a kind—the only equestrian tack shop in New York City. We have been outfitting riders, horses, and lovers of equestrian style since 1912.
Our historic, split-level space on 24th street is a shopping experience not to be missed, presenting a carefully selected assortment of modern English equestrian clothing, equipment, and gifts in a warm atmosphere befitting our rich heritage. We welcome horse people of all levels, so you will find what you need on our well-stocked shelves whether you take regular lessons, compete at Grand-Prix level, hilltop on weekends, just booked a riding vacation, or are a mom taking your child for a first-ever pony ride.
You can count on expert service from our friendly staff members, who are equally insightful about horse sports, equestrian tradition, and the latest equestrian fashion trends. We proudly stock some of the most beloved and stylish brands—including Pikeur, Tailored Sportsman, Vogel, Dubarry, Charles Owen, GPA, Ariat, Kerrits, Samshield, Berney Bros., and Asmar Equestrian—for our discerning local, visiting, and international customers.
In addition to being an authority on equestrian fashion and tack, Manhattan Saddlery happily embraces our role as the hub for “all things horse” in New York City. Need a gift for a horse-crazy niece? We’ve got it. Don’t know where to take a riding lesson? We have suggestions. What’s a good spectator horse show to visit? Just ask. Want to trade your pumps for paddock boots? Take a seat.

Our Rich History
Manhattan Saddlery traces its history back to 1912, when it opened on 24th street as Miller Harness Company, a saddlery and equine supply business. Miller's catered to elite clients like the Olympic team and the Kennedy and Rockefeller families, as well as everyday equestrians through its popular mail order catalog, for almost 80 years.
The stretch of 24th Street between Lexington and Park Avenues was not only home to Miller’s but also to H. Kauffman & Sons, another venerable tack store, which gave the area fame as the city’s premiere equestrian destination for most of the 1900s. In the early 1990s, Kauffman’s closed and Miller’s was sold. Miller Harness Company brands transferred to a private company and its physical store remained a tack store under the name Copperfield’s.
In 2002, June Tsang, a passionate equestrian and loyal Miller’s customer, and her family took up the company reins and legacy as Manhattan Saddlery. Since then, we have remained deeply committed to upholding and exceeding the standards of excellence set by Miller’s and Copperfield’s. And we take seriously our position as the only remaining authentic representative and purveyor of the equestrian lifestyle in New York City.
Come visit us at Manhattan Saddlery, the true “equicenter” of the city, for a unique and rewarding equestrian shopping experience. We look forward to seeing you!
