Most riders are very particular about their helmets. An uncomfortable helmet can be very distracting and affect one’s performance in an equestrian event. Additionally, a helmet that does not look good or suit the rider’s appearance may affect the image he or she creates when astride, and this can be very costly in closely contested dressage events. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there is the matter of safety. A helmet that does not offer complete protection puts the rider in danger of a serious injury.
